Presence Sensing Devices

This category includes safety devices used to sense the presence of a foreign object within a press brake or other automatic feed part revolution clutch press, and then automatically stop the motion of the press brake’s ram so that the object can be cleared from the device. Also referred to as light curtains, PSDs incorporate either photoelectric sensors such as infrared light beams, along with lasers and camera systems that use linear scales to calculate the ram’s position and stopping distance. PSDs can guard only the point of operation where the press meets the workpiece, or can enclose an entire fabricating press and feeding system.
